Home made Salt in Hawaii

One of my day off, I was driving around the island with my wife and host dad. Our fist stop was Malama point. We drove along the beach until we couldn't go further. There is a hiking trail though.

We parked by the beach and I went down to take a few photos of the sea and the mountains. This pic is one of a salt ponds along the beach. I went back to my car and got a ziplock bag and got that chunk of salt crust.Naturally sea water get in and the sun help to evaporate and left the crust.

I took 32 oz of sea water from there.With that water and salt crust , I mixed them together and filter the mixture and started heating up at home.
With slow heat, let the moisture or water evaporates until it is dried and sandy...Finally, I got this salt...( When I was young, I did a few times making salt out of salt sea water crusted sand and sea water to get home made salt. )
